With African Rosewood solid spaces and trim this set has 2 inch squares and many types of wood for the inlay spaces including Walnut,Oak,Pine,Cedar,Orange,Michigan Apple, Napa valley California grape vine, Maple,Crimson Bottlebursh and others. The light pieces are carved Maple and the dark pieces are carved from Walnut Branch .When carving the pieces I do leave a little bit of tree bark around the bottom of each piece for style . Each set takes approx 28 to 32 hours to produce and I do every step in the process . One Piece at a time .. The pieces are weighted inside at the bottom for professional feel then felted to protect the board. The kings are 3.5 inches and pawns are approx 2 inches high. The board is signed dated and numbered on the bottom .
